Steering Committee Meeting
October 9, 2006, at 6:30 pm
Present were: Phil Dindinger, John Bonnen, Jack
Champaigne, Christoph Leser
- Local
arrangements – Christoph had discussed the details of the meeting with the
host, Pofessor Sayed Nassar during the afternoon of 10/9/06.
- Henry
Fuchs Student Award: Will not be given this year as there were no
nominations. It was decided that in the future the Fuchs announcement will
be sent to the entire committee and not only a few select memebers
- Next
meetings –
It was proposed to consider meeting in Spring 2007
at SAE congress and have the Fall 2007 meeting at a location outside of the
Detroit area. Decisions on this are being postponed until the Wednesday
Steering luncheon.
- Review
of projects
- Welds
– John Bonnen reported briefly, he will have numerous presentations
according to the agenda.
- New
Business - Jack Champaigne proposed to link shot peening activities to the
weld project and will contact Peter Kurath for that. Jack may want to give a
presentation at the next meeting.
- Adjournment

- It
was decided to have the Spring Meeting 2007 at SAE congress and approach
Ralph Stephens to whether he wanst to host the Fall 2007 meeting at the
University of Iowa.
- Discussion
centered for a while on core constituency and the desire to attract larger
participation rates. One action item for the Chairman/Vice Chairman will be
to send more announcements of upcoming meetings to the membership.
