Chairman's Report - C.Barrett

  • For Ballot to be passed, now need:
    • 50% of ballots sent out must be returned
    • 75% of returned ballots must approve
  • Military Conversion Status
    • SAE asked to identify Military Supply Class Specifications which could be replaced by existing SAE Specifications.
  • C.Barrett appointed a Sub-committee to make recommendations as to which Military Specifications could be replaced by SAE Specifications:

Minutes Previous Meetings

  • D. Coovert asked that the location of the March 27 meetings be amended to La Connor, WA from Mt. Vernon, WA.
  • D. Coovert moved minutes be approved as amended.

  • J442 C. Barrett reported for Dave Francis.

    J442 Sent for publication after final approval, should be published soon.
  • J445 D.Hale reported that the lastest ballot taken was passed. During Oct. 94 meeting all disapprovals were resolved, except C.Carlin, and possibly E.Henry. (No record of E.Henry ballot found.)

    D.Hale moved that J455 be approved as amended after Oct.94 meeting with comments by C.Carlin to be incorporated. D.Coovert Seconded.

    D. Lutsko move to ammend D.Hale motion-

    • "To accept J445 as amended at October 94 meeting without any further comment"

  • J792 D.Lutsko reported on the staus of J792 Blast Cleaning Manual. Progress is being made, but still quite a bit of work to be done.
  • J784 C.Barrett reported for Aquil Ahmad.

    A draft of J784 not ready at this time. Sub-committee working on it. C.Barrett to find out when proposed revision will be ready for review.
  • J443 J. Champaigne presented proposed draft of J443 developed by Sub-committee at Jan 95 meeting. The Sub-com. was asked to review this proposed draft with particular attention to the "scope". Another Sub-com. meeting was set for May 16, 1995 at 10:00a.m. at Ervin Industires in Ann Arbor, Mi.
  • J827 D.Hale reported on the latest ballot of J827.

    28 Ballots sent - 13 Approval - 5 Disapproval - 10 no reply

    • Disapprovals from C. Carlin, C.Barrett, B.Fuller, W.Spigler and M.Schiemonn
    • C.Barrett withdrew his disapproval
    • D.Hale was asked to recirculate proposed revision to J827 and contact other persons voting against to withdraw their disapprovals.
  • J1993 D.Hale reported on results of latest ballot J1993.

    28 Ballots sent - 11 Approval - 3 Disapproval - 14 no reply

    • Disapprovals from C.Carlin, B.Fuller, and Spigler
    • D.Hale was asked to recirculate the revised J1993 to persons who voted against to ask for withdrawal of their disapproval.
  • J1173. Barrett reported in B. Mulhall's absence.

    Sub-committee met earlier this year and has scheduled another meeting to continue work on J1173.

  • J1830 G. Fernandez discussed his draft revision to J1830.

    D. Coovert moved to accept J1830 as revised.

    G. Fernandez to send out the revised draft of J1830 to Surface Enhancement Com. for further comment at next meeting.
  • "High Toughness Zirconia Ceramic Shot For Peening" -J. Thomas

    J. Thomas discussed his draft of this new document. J.Thomas to amend initial draft and recirculate to Surface Enhancement Comm. for further comments at next meeting.
  • Medium Carbon Wrought Steel Grit - S.Kaufman

    S. Kaufman discussed his initial draft of this document and the results of the "Steel Shot Sub-committee" meeting of March 26, 1995. A revised draft of this document will be submitted to the Surf. Enhancement Comm. for comment at next meeting.
  • Borosilicate Glass Beads

    No representative of the Sub-comm. for this document was present - no action taken.
  • Next Meeting of Surface Enhancement Committee will be held on October 17-18, 1995 at the Sheraton Inn in Toronto, Canada

D. Coovert moved that meeting be adjourned.
