All:

Sorry it took so long for me to follow up. These attachments may be of interest. The first spreadsheet has the test results for the subject geometry of the challenge; the sheet is just a copy of what I showed on an overhead projector at our meeting in Urbana in October.

The photos show typical cracks from these kinds of bracket attachments. One photo shows a cracked rod. The others show cracks in the pipes ( 1 ,  2 ,  3 ). Of course, the parts in the photos are of rather different shape than the part of the challenge, but you hopefully get a flavor for typical behavior. Test results of cycles to events are summarized in this table.

This spreadsheet has results for tests other than those summarized at the meeting. These include results from each of 3 load directions: 20 degrees from vertical (same angle as those presented in October), vertical, and 55 degrees from vertical. These results are mainly from block-load tests and pseudo-blocks (i.e. constant amplitude followed by a bunch of cycles of a different constant amplitude, and so on, which was all that was feasible on some of the tests which used air actuators with ancient controllers). Sorry for this hassle that makes things unfriendly to the number-crunching, but the results may be of interest anyway.

Please let me know if I can answer other questions. I'm afraid my answers may be only about this category of parts in general or whatever can be recalled from the relatively "old" testing of the subject parts of the challenge.

Best regards,

Paul Lubinski
